Ray - Recently you commented on how lucky the auto owner in not damaging the engine when the timing chain broke.
I have a 2007 Cadillac DTS and it just registered 80,000 miles. Should in invest in a new chain plus labor in prevented maintenance or should I ride it out hoping for the best.
Thank you,
Bill

No need, timing chains last longer than 100,000 miles. If they need replacement, it is usually the guides that wear out. You will know they need replacement because the engine will be increasingly noisy with a metallic clatter.
