“System Fault Airbag” light came on. I presume either a faulty sensor or computer issue. How extensive of a repair is this, cost?
Doesn’t really matter, take it to the dealer or a Euro shop and have it checked out, air bags are a safety issue and if you bought a 911 to drive it like it was meant to be driven, then it requires repairing, unless you have a 12+ point cage with 5 point harness in it already, in which they have probably been removed anyway… If you buy a Porsche 911 and have to ask what something cost, you probably should not have bought the car… respectfully speaking…
1st of all, what is/are the code(s), it has multiple air bags, multiple sensors, lots of wiring, module(s) etc etc… Might even be an airbag recall (but don’t hold your breath)…
That question does not have an answer on the web . Only a shop can tell after they do a diagnostic .
It could be as simple as lint stuck in the seatbelt clasp and that’s cheap to clean. It could also be an electrical problem with the SRS or other expensive issues. I had a similar issue with my 2005 Honda Accord in 2017 and tried cleaning the seatbelt clasp and it didn’t work. Since it had 187,000 miles on it my solution was to trade it in on a new 2017 Accord.
The airbag computer stores error codes. Those codes can help the mechanic determine what is wrong and what to repair or replace. And only then will that light go away.
As mentioned before… if you have to ask what it costs, you shouldn’t own a Porsche. They are VERY expensive to service.
Also mentioned before… it could be an easy repair or a hard one but without those error codes, there is no way to tell.
From what I can find on this it could be as simple as low battery voltage or a bad sensor. A shop can determine from the code reader what’s set off the light and fix the issue. Common enough on this generation of 911 that a shop that’s familiar with Porsche’s would have the scan tool and know what it needs fairly quickly. I know of at least two good shops here in town recommended to me by Porsche owners i’ve talked to
