Taking the Ridgeline to the Outer banks of NC. I will deflate the tires to @20 - 25 psi. Is there anything else that I need to do? Understand that I don’t need to engage the VSA system unless I get stuck in deep sand or mud. Right?
I’ve never done it myself, but I’m under the impression that people go to something closer to 15 PSI when they do this.
You do have a compressor to get back to normal pressure as soon as you leave the beach, I assume?
I work at a federal beach with a drive on fishing program and 15psi would be a good start. As the sun heats the sand, the pressure will increase, and it is wise to monitor your progress. if you start to spin, and dig in, stop! Then assess pressure, and if needed reduce air. If you drop too low, the tires can come off the rims. Bring air gauge, shovel, board with jack, tow strap, and a good spare tire in case. Good luck, and have fun.
