2006 Honda Odyssey engine stalls when put into gear. I was told that it may be a transmission-related issue.
If the lockup torque converter is locked up I suppose that is possible. Least expensive route is to pay a qualified shop to properly diagnose the problem.
I had the same problem years ago on a Pontiac and that’s the first thing I thought of. Or the van could simply be running very badly.
