2006 Ford Explorer’s seat moves when driving

My seat moves sometimes when im driving

I presume this is NOT a power seat. If it is just a mechanical connection, just get under there to see if the track is worn or the release/lock mechanism is gummed up, etc. Should be an easy fix.

This is very dangerous. Don’t wait. Get it fixed, Now!!

Yes it is dangerous. Imagine touching the brake pedal and having the seat slide forward. It happened to me and my girlfriend slid into the dashboard (1960s, not much seat belt usage.)

At least one passenger airplane has crashed because of a pilot’s seat that moved while flying.

On a 14 year old vehicule Its possible that a rotten floor pan is causing this …it happened in my Ford Tempo years ago and the only thing holding the seat to the floor was the carpet.
