My wife and I have a 2005 Volvo S40 T5, and the radio turns to pure static when you are listening to the FM radio and then turn on the rear defroster. It works fine the rest of the time. Sometimes when you hot pumps you can hear the sound jump around from speaker to speaker.Also if you open the passenger side sun visor mirror door, it will turm to static if it is not opened to where the light on the visor come on. Has anyone ran into this problem before or know where I can find out the answer. Thanks for any help.
Static is usually caused by a poorly grounded radio, speakers or antenna. Check to see if the antenna is securely mounted to the vehicle and to the radio. The radio is picking up power surges from other electrical devices. The other possibility is that the radio is bad.
