Started with grinding noise when turning left. Then smoke coming out from under the car, will not drive and free-wheels.
That is not good. Let us know what the shop diagnoses is.

WAG: the transfer case has bitten the dust.
WAG 2: CV joint fell apart.
Another WAG: a transmission cooler line blew, spraying fluid all over.
