While driving the car down shifts to 2nd. gear, will not shift to drive, at this position it is in a neutral gear, and on the dash it is going from P to 1 back and forth, once parked and in the parked position the dash is still going back and forth, will not go into reverse, but will go into 2nd. gear, there is a clicking noise behind the glove box, after awhile of sitting it will drive right for about 4 miles then start all over again.
Check engine light on?
If you’re lucky it’s just a faulty transmission range sensor which tells the car which gear it’s in. If there’s a transmission error code, your O/D (overdrive) light will flash and may stay on. It should be scanned and checked for transmission codes regardless.
