I also want to point out that I discovered a seat belt retractor recall with vehicles of my make, model and year, however, when I called the Saab hotline, my VIN number was not included in the recall group. This is very unsettling. I have had two cars prior to this one and I have never had a seat belt break. I know in my heart that the retractor is defective but feel that I have no recourse but to pay out of pocket. Your thoughts?

Mechanically Inept and Scared
You can relax.
If your VIN didn’t show up on the recall list, that means there’s nothing wrong with your seat belts.
If you aren’t happy with that answer, perhaps you could go to your stealership and have them inspect the object of the recall and let you know if the components are good or not.
You seem pretty nervous about this, so that may be the way to go.
Then, if there is a fault that was the object of the recall, you have the dealers claim of a defect too.
If the dealer charges you for labor time and they found a fault, make certain to retain all receipts.
Just get everything down in black and white and SIGNED by the dealerships’ manager.
The recall means they know some parts were not constructed right. Your part was. You are ahead in the game. Be Happy Don’t Worry.
Joeseph, I just found she’s posted three times today. Go back to around 1pm today for the first one and we can start all over. Geez.
