No belt, chain. Timing chains, or their guides can wear out but not on a specific schedule like a belt. Listen for clatter on startup.
Keep in mind this is a 14 year old car and how it was treated is FAR more important that any other thing. PAY your mechanic to inspect it before you agree to buy it.
