2004 Corolla - Tire rubbing at high speed

I was on a road trip, and piece of tire rubber got kicked up by the car in front of me. It smashed out my passenger side fog light cover and left a nice tire pattern print on the front of the hood. After that happened I noticed when I would go over a lip in road at a bridge or something at high speed 80mph+ it sounded like something would touch the tire for a second. It seemed to be happening on both front tires. I will be taking it in to get checked out, but I was wondering if anybody had any ideas before I do.

Check the plastic splash covers in the wheel wells. One could be folded over or torn.
