Would I be able to change the caty converter on my girlfriend’s car without the universe collapsing in on itself? I have changed the one on 95 chevy s10, but this seems like a completely different animal. Also what could have lead to the converter to not work any more?

Catalytic converters come with a federally-mandated 8 year/80,000 mile warranty. Does this car have more than 80,000 miles? If not, it is still warranted by Toyota.
Converters rarely fail on their own. Usually some other defect in another part of the engine (for example, oil leaking into the exhaust) causes a premature catalytic converter failure. Is the check engine light on?
