top wont go all the way down. goes half way and stops.
This has the retractable hardtop, which is very complex. Aside from lubricating all the many joints (if that’s even possible) it sounds like a problem for a Benz specialist.
Have you posted this on an SL forum?
My dad’s '60’s Bonneville convertible top did that once. Man, was my mom ripped when she found out his golf clubs were in the cavity where the top was supposed to go!
Have you checked for anything that might be in the way of the mechanism?
