After changing transmission on 2003 f150 5.4 the truck goes into limp mode when I drive in neutral it revs up normal
If a shop installed the tranny you should bring it back to them.
If it was done by you then I would first check if the transmission fluid level is low, it can cause the transmission to overheat and trigger limp mode.
I would also check for codes and post them here and someone might be able to help you more. you can check to see if any fuses or relays are bad. also check to make sure you connected all the sensor wires and make sure you did not cut any that could have shorted out.
Was it a rebuilt trans, used trans, or just a simple fluid change??
Did it do it on the drive home, or a week later or???
What are the codes??
Considering that the title of this thread is “2003 Ford F-150 - Help - Problem after fluid change”, I assume that he meant to say “After changing transmission fluid on a 2003 f150 5.4 the truck goes into limp mode when I drive…”
And of course, the big question is whether the correct fluid was used, the correct amount was filled back into the transmission, and if the filter was changed, whether it was properly attached to the valve body of the transmission with the proper O-ring or seal.
Considering The title was changed 2 days after the thread was started and since you are late to the game, you didn’t know, this was an ask someone who— threads, so a moderator changed the title after the fact..
Don’t you think that WW and myself know enough to know the difference between a fluid change and a trans change?? Hence our post… lol
One reason I wish the mods would NOT change titles like these, it just confuses some people…
Actually I think the posts to Carcomplaints should just stay there as most of them are one and done or reference another unseen post.
It’s a business decision to keep our moderators employed IMO. I’m all for seeing the car complaints posts.
