2003 BMW X5 - Why the problems after service?

I am the original owner of a 2003 BMW X5 3.0 with a standard transmission. It has approximately 160K/miles.

Over the years, +90% of the maintenance & repairs have been performed by the dealer. There was a period where I used a small german car specialist shop.

Lately, when I go in for a repair, the dealer complete the fix – and does a comprehensive multi-point inspection. Yet, within 2 or 3 weeks of each of my last 4-visits, something new – and previously undetected – goes wrong.

Could it be possible that my car is worse than I thought and that they avoiding telling me the truth – in order to get more business out of me?

How can I get a reliable, trustworthy, and truly comprehensive diagnosis of my car?

17 year old BMW could very well have problems . I doubt if the dealer is at fault here and predicting future problems with even a through inspection is almost impossible.
