2002 Tacoma Center Console Power Outage

Hello there,

My husband drives a 2002 Tacoma with 195,000 miles on it and the power to the center console is out. What is interesting about this is that only the radio, cigarette lighter, glovebox light, the clock, and rheostat are out. The lights for hazard switch and overdrive switch are working. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Mr. Obvious, Here . . . Have The Fuses Been Checked ?

Your Tacoma Owner’s Manual should give the location of all fuse/relay boxes and describe components/circuits protected by fuse positions.

This sounds like a connector or harness problem, but who knows, start by checking fuses/breakers. That is the easiest and cheapest thing to do for starters.

CSA

Follow CSA’s advice.Chances are excellent that it’s a fuse.
If it turns out not to be a fuse, the attached shows how to remove the console.

Does The Vehicle Have Any Aftermarket Electronics (audio, alarms, remote starter, etcetera) ?

Improper installation can cause problems, usually electrical in nature.
