2002 stratus loss power while driving

2002 dodge stratus loss power while on expressway. 36 hours before this happened, my daughter turned car off but left ignition on. 24 hours passed before i noticed. tried to turn car on but battery was dead. called for a jump. car started but when turned off and turned on again would not start. guy told me this time let it run for 30mins or so before i turn it off. did that but before turning engine off i drove to autozone and had them test battery and altenator charge w/ handheld unit. 2nd guy at autozone said both were charged and i should not have any problems. fastforward 36 hours later i lose power while driving on interstate. i coast to a stop at a roadside tire shop (lucky i guess). 3rd guy test battery there and says battery is charged must be something else. so i had it towed home cause they couldnt fix at that type shop. now wondering what is truely wrong and would love your opinion. can you help?

When you say “loses power”, do you mean that all electrical goes dead, or do you mean that the engine just quits running? Do you have a no crank condition when you do manage to come to a stop …or a NO START situation?

If you have a no crank situation and the battery shows good, then you’ve got some relay that’s fatigued and dropping out. The ASD relay being the most suspect, though it shouldn’t be the cause of no crank, it could cause you to stop running while driving down the road. I’d also before hand, check all the primary battery cables.

oh thank you

i mean the engine just quit, i could still operate the power windows and the dash lights still worked
once i came to a stop i attempted to restart but it would not
the lights came on and it clicked when i turned the key like it normally does it just would not crank

Okay, let’s refine that some more.

Do you mean:

EVERYTHING WAS WORKING PERFECTLY FINE and the engine quit. When you stopped, with EVERYTHING ELSE WORKING JUST FINE …turning the key resulted in clicking?

or do you mean:

EVERYTHING WENT DEAD (EVERYTHING) and when you stopped, everything CAME BACK TO LIFE except that you got clicking when turning the key??
