2002 Nissan Frontier - Timing Belt Management

I was told once the timing belt breaks, time for a new car? Can this be fixed & for how much?
Thank You,
Linda

No, you replace the belt BEFORE it breaks, according to the schedule in your owners manual.
If you chose to drive it until it breaks, if a non-interference engine, likely no damage and a new belt can be installed.
If an interference engine, cheapest route would most likely to install a used engine.
Cost? Varies with local and availability of engines.

Thank You!!!
