I have a 2002 Mercedes Benz c240 sometimes when I try to start up my car it won’t start. After a few try’s of turning the key and taking it in and out it will finally turn on. There is also a caution symbol and the check engine sign pops up on my dashboard. My question is what is going on and what should I do about this?
What is going on is: your car is telling you something is wrong. That is what those lights are for. If you want to know exactly what is going on, take it in for service at your friendly local independent mechanic and have the codes read. They can then tell you what is wrong and give you an estimate for repair.
As for the caution symbol, that is something different, and likely worse. Your owners manual will tell you what that symbol means and whether it is safe to drive the car. If in doubt, or you don’t have the manual, have it towed to the mechanic.
