2002 Honda Odyssey

Occasionally when I brake the red lights on the dash come on (door ajar, battery, brake). When I step on the gas those lights go off. I have 72k miles and have had regular service done as per dealership. Any thoughts?

Sounds like the alternator is heading south. The power output is just low enough that when you step on the brake the current draw from the brake lights makes your car’s electrical system head into the red. This makes the lights on the dash come on. Once you step on the gas the extra revs from the engine help bring up the total power and the lights on the dash go off.

Thanks for the info. Is it ok to drive until I get it fixed? Will the van just quit on me while driving or will it be a matter of not starting at some point?
