My 2002 Honda Accord has been making a “whining” noise whenever I turn the wheel. I took the car to an auto shop yesterday and they said that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced–I guess my car has been leaking power steering fluid. My question is: how much should I pay to replace this part? What is too much? I called place this morning and they said it would be $800 for the rack and pinion plus another $70 to align the tires. Does this sound reasonable?

It sounds reasonable to me. Rack and pinion replacements don’t come cheap.
