Hi, I have a 2002 Solara convertible with its original top. Unfortunately someone slashed it and I have to have the main part of the top replaced. In the 2002 version, the top is in 2 parts - (1)the main top and (2)the back window + strip of cloth just below it. There’s nothing wrong with the window part. No leaks or anything, despite parking the car outside for the past 5 years in San Francisco weather. It just sounds like this is a part that’s prone to problems, and I’m wondering since I’m paying for the main piece, maybe it’s worth the extra $500 to replace the window part as well. Does anyone have experience with leaks around the rear window or replacing the top on a 2002? Thanks!
