I have a 2001 Volvo XC70. Occationaly, when I turn the car off, the engine fan will continue to run until I notice it. Sometimes this can be hours. I can usually turn the car on and back off, and the fan will stop. However, this morning when I tried that, I couldn’t get the fan to turn off at all. What could be causing this?
Your vehicle uses a cooling fan control that’s equipped with a thermostat. If your engine is very hot when you shut it off then the cooling fan can run for several minutes if it needs too. If it’s running for hours then the control is probably bad.
