thinking about buying a 2001 Nissan frontier. 4 cyl 114K Miles. Looks good but I know nothing about Nissan. I;m a Toyota guy. Anything I should be aware of!
They are reliable as a brick. But they are noisier and a little rougher than a Toyota and get slightly less gas mileage.
Thank you Keith!
You should know that the manufacturer isn’t important at this point. After 18 years, the condition of the truck is most important. Look at it and test drive it for 20 minutes or more. If you still like it, have a mechanic you trust do a prepurchase inspection. If you are still interested, start thinking about price.
… as its maintenance record!
Good advice! Thank you!!
The 2.4L is pretty reliable, it has a timing chain, so you don’t need to worry about changing out the timing belt like the 3.3L V6 models have. I will say that the 4WD systems used on that vintage Frontier and Xterra wasn’t exactly robust, but if you’re getting 2WD truck (most 4WD Frontiers had the V6), then you don’t need to concern yourself with that.
Thank you! Yes, 2WD is good for me.
