2001 F150, tranny and stalling-related?

My 2001 F150 supercrew w/ a 4.6 has been running great untill last week. As I was heading onto the freeway, I was accelerating but did not “get on it” and the truck shifted into a gear that was way too low (1st or 2nd) RPM’s jumped to 4500+. I thought it odd and continued down the freeway. About 60 miles later the truck suddnely died while going approx. 60 mph (cruise control was not on). I shifted to N amd it re started. A few miles later the tach jumped from 0 - 5000 sevral times in a few seconds. It stopped when I let off of the accelerator. We pulled into a Ford Dealer and the same happened while they were test driving it. They had the truck several days and could not find anything wrong. No check engine light came on and no codes were left. It did the RPM and stalling thing agian this time approx 5 miles apart and on side streets. It then travled 75 miles w/ no problems. All info would be helpful so I can pass it onto the dealer.

Thanks

David
