2001 Dodge Intrepid

I have a 2001 Dodge Intrepid and it has a vibration in the steering and a slight pull to the left. We had a '90’s model that the steering rack went bad in and I wondered if this could be the problem or if it was the CV joint?

Dodgeman, It’s Difficult To Say From Here. This Could Be Caused By Several Different Things.

Nobody has hit anything with a tire recently , have they?

I wouldn’t jump to conclusions about a bad rack. You’ll need to have a competent mechanic check it out. Even a bad tire that’s low on air or one that has a defect involving the tire’s belt can do this.

I wouldn’t wait too long, as this could be a signal that something is not safe.

I forgot to say that I had the front tires checked recently and I have had a four wheel alignment done on it twice about a year ago.

My folks had a 2000 Intrepid that had the same problem. In their case, the inner tie rod ends were completely worn out and loose. New tie rod ends cured the problem.
