I have a 2001 PT Cruiser with 118,000 miles. Sometimes when I try to start it, and turn the key, nothing happens. I turn the key 4-6 more times and it starts right up. I had the ignition taken out and they said nothing wrong with it and reinstalled it. They said bad starter, so new one was put in, also new battery and it still fails to start up some days without playing with the key. What would you say now, other than junking it. It is my beater car and it runs great when it starts up and I hate retiring it.

I would remove, clean and tighter both ends of both battery cables, It could also be a bad neutral safety switch. Next time it soesn;t start try shifting into neutral and see if it starts. Also try jiggling the shift lever.
