Occasionally when I try to start the vehicle, everything instantly dies (dome light, digital clock display), and I hear one single click as if battery is completely dead. I gentle shake of the battery restores power and the engine can start right up with no problem. PS. the clock resets to 12:00 but programmed radio stations stay put).
Take off the battery connections, clean them, inside and out, and replace them. Be sure they are tight. Also check the other ends of the cables.

I agree. Also consider the battery may have internal damage. Has it been securely held in its tray? How old is it? If over 4 or 5 years, don’t feel too bad about needing to buy a new one.
