2000 Ford F150 digital odometer intermittently goes out

I have a 2000 F150 that I absolutely love. However, the odometer, a digital readout in this case, intermittently goes black. At night, I can usually see that it’s still THERE, just has no brightness to it. What could be causing this? Is there an easy fix for it, or is this a dealer fix? If so, any idea on price range?
