1998 Isuzu Amigo starts, but dies

Starts and runs for 15 to 30 second and then dies as if it is starving or suffocating. I’m not sure if I should look at the electrical, fuel pump, intake, or exhaust.

Hook up a fuel pressure gauge first

Please post back with the readings

Concur with db4690, as a first guess, sounds like a fuel system problem of some kind. During cranking the fuel system may have a different method of injecting fuel to get the extra rich mixture, then after cranking is completed and the engine starts to run on its own the fuel supply is stopping for some reason. It could be a crank or cam position sensor , that’s another idea. Sometimes the fuel pump will run when the key is in start, but after that it will only run if the computer detects the engine is turning.
