1998 honda accord LE, vtec 4 cly, 160,000 miles

have an intermittent stall problem with the honda. has always happened within a mile of starting up the car and only in hot weather (live in the northeast) and never under acceleration. i had it in the driveway today and ran the engine up to 3000 rpms, paused and let off the accelerator. a couple of times the engine dropped below the regular idle speed and shut down. any ideas?

I would clean the throttlebody.
Use search for your model, its easy to do.

If spray cleaning the throttle body doesn’t cure it, try cleaning the Idle Air Control Valve.

replace the fuel filter. it’s a cheap replacement. then if that does not work you need to have the fuel pressure tested.
