I turned the key, the car started then I heard a momentary screeching noise as I released the key to the normal start position. It almost sounded like if you try to start an already running engine. Any ideas what may cause this problem? Otherwise it is running fine.
Could be a slipping belt. Have the belts ever been replaced?
Could also be a sticking solenoid keeping the starter engaged a second or so longer than it should.
