1997 Nissan Pathfinder

Hi, Everytime i turn my air conditioner to on it works fine for a while, but sometime when i stop the car the rpm needle jump up and down, it would only resume to normal idle when i cutoff the air cond. I have replaced the thermostat, waterpumps, new freon. Any suggestion guys ?

The next time the idle jumps up and down, open the hood and tap on the idle air control valve with the handle of a screwdriver. If doing this settles the idle down, the idle air control valve is hunting and requires replacement.

Try Tester’s suggestion.

But I’m also wonderng if the AC compressor pump is starting to bind up.

can u tell me where the idle air valve control is located at, i looked just about everywhere, could it also be the ac low pressure switch ?
