Can anyone confirm for me if a 1996 Nissan Maxima has a timing belt? I got a used Maxima with no maintenance manual; and I want to play it safe.

The Pathfinder with that engine had a belt…but I’m pretty sure the Maxima had a timing chain…But it is an interference engine.
Your car has the VQ engine, which is a chain.
