I have been given a 1996 GMC sierra 1500 I want to get it back running. Its been sitting exposed to the weather and haven’t been cranked for over 4 years. I want to get it back running as a surprise, but I can only do minor repairs (Oil change, spark plugs, etc.). So I plan on leaving it with my mechanic and letting him work on it. So what can I expect to spend? You know like best case worst case scenario. Or what would be the best course of action to get the truck going.
The first thing that will need to be addressed is the bad gas. The entire fuel system will require cleaning. After that, it will just be the basic maintanence inspections to make sure the vehicle is road worthy.
