I’m need of help changing the alternator ina 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I seem to have all the bolts lose, but I am unable to pivot the the air conditioning thingy to loosen the belt. Please tell me what I am missing. I see where the last person that tried this really pried on the pully. is that all there is to it? A bigger pry bar?
thanks for any help
You probably have a belt tensioner that you pull toward the center with a 14 or 15 mm socket and ratchet handle. This will loosen the belt so that you can remove it from the A/C pulley.
See if any of this helps you out. http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c152800a98a2
You need to pry on the idler pulley. It has a spring on it to hold the tension on the belt.
