Anyone had a 1993 Cutlass Ciera, and, if so, what sorts of problems did it have? If anyone still has one that runs, how many miles do you have on it, and how do you like it?
By 1993 the kinks in the mid size GM cars had been mostly ironed out. The 90degree V6 is a good engine, while the 60 degree narrow block from prior years was not so good. The steering rack problems were resolved by 1993 as well. The only remaining problem dogging these cars was the intake manifold gaskets.
In additon, the GM paint quality was still not up to scratch by 1993. I rented these cars quite often and found them pleasant to drive.
Hoever, any car that age which has not received steady maintenance will be a problem.
Great info here, Docnick! I will make sure the mechanic checks out the intake manifold gaskets. It does look like the owner had trouble with the paint. He repainted a whole bunch of places yesterday and changed the gray trim to black, and it looks quite sharp, now. You’d never know the car was so old from its outer appearance.
