The hood release on my 1990 Buick Wagon doesn’t open the hood. I think maybe the cable is broken somewhere. The question is, is there an alternative way to open the hood?
When the hood sticks on my 93 Caprice, I have somebody work the release while I push down on the hood a couple of times. Usually this pops the hood loose providing the cable isn’t broken. Then I clean and lube the latch mechanism.
