I was unaware. Maybe others are also. Rear axles are breaking and causing fatalities. It was just on the national news
I guess i should have titled it better
This is a third redundant thread.
Recall # 10-s-13 has been mailed to all registered owners of affected vehicles.
Parts to reinforce the rear axle beam have been automatically shipped to Ford dealers.
Whole axle beams will get ordered as needed.
I currently have iventory to reinforce 12 vehicles in Gallup NM.
If you wonder about your own vehicle , simply pop in to any Ford dealer and we will check yours.
redundant? i had one gut worried about it because he owns a windstar. Im she not everybody that owns a windstar is aware and it certainly cant hurt to post it here. 3 threads because i got the year wrong. Forgive me
My MIL is second owner of affected van(no notice). I was not aware of the defect till I saw the video that motivated Ford to take responsibility to change this to recall status.
My MIL drives around rusty New England with my 3yr and 4yr old and 2 cousings on a daily basis.
Ford is terrible it took a video being put out(scare) of simulated failure before they did anything.
Ford is not doing anything differently than any other car maker when it comes to issues like this.
One would think that people would have the suspension inspected now and then as recommended; and especially so in rust belt states.
One would think that durring any basic oil change the underside inspection would notice any irregularity with the rear beam, but I guess not.
New Mexico is not a rust belt state, we are not on the list of 23 mandatory states…
–yet –
Ford sent me ( I did not place an order ) recall parts to do 12 vehicles !
This alone tells us something about the potential severity of this recall.
