My father recently passed away; he a true Mopar man. In his garage we have a 1934 Plymouth whihc is in pieces. Dad had a new frame built, a engine and transmission - all chrome, and all new bits and pieces - it is just needing to be put together. Do I pay someone to put the car together, or do I sell “as is” ?? Do I inventory parts? How do I know what to charge? Is this too many questions??
this was your fathers car. his project. if you want to sell it, go ahead, but i wont tell you to do that. if you have the ability to put it together yourself, thats what you need to do.
First off, sorry about your father.
I’d put it together, maybe even painting it his favorite color and consider it a great reminder of him.
You don’t sound like a car builder. We just went through the same thing, my dad passed away, he had a major hobby car. We found someone (my sister’s mechanic) who was excited about taking over the project. Maybe you could find somebody. Another idea - a school that teaches mechanics might be happy to have a project like this to help teach the students. Good luck!
ps-I would definitely NOT hire somebody to put it together, that could cost a lot of money you’d never get back. If you do want to sell, take a number of good pics and post it on Craigslist, Ebay, Hemmings, etc.
You have to decide if you want to take on the project or let it go. It is not an answer anyone can give you, but one you must decide yourself. There is not a right or wrong answer except the one that is in your heart. If you take it on as a project or part it out ebay is a good source for a price point comparison.
You get a picture taken and advertise it in Hemming’s Motor News. There is a copy in every book store and most supermarkets. You’ll get something for it. Check out the prices in the magazine first.
ebay or Craigslist

Never fall in love with something that can’t love you back…It will cost you more to complete this project than the finished car will be worth…Perhaps a local car club could help you inventory, identify and price the parts collection…
I would add try to get a enthusiast involved. This is probably going to go in pieces(only absolute I can say is sell it all to same person, don’t part out,at least not for a while) for less money than you want, good luck.
