Well dang, that box must really work then. My grandma had a Pinto and I’m pretty sure it went 0-60 in “some time next week.”
Twice the speed of smell.
But only half the speed of fire!
The four hamster engine in my 1973 Corolla was like that.
My dad had that generation of Corolla. Yeah, that thing was slow. Especially going up the mountain road to our house at 7500 feet!
Mercy, yes, that would be seriously straining the anemic abilities of that generation Corolla.
When I moved from NJ back to OK I had “The Toy” heavily loaded. It strained going uphill through the mountains of PA but got 40 mpg going down the western side of the mountains. Best mpg on a tank of gas I’ve ever had in any car to date although I do consistently get 35-36mpg in highway driving from my current 2014 Camry. Obviously, Toyota is supplying more robust hamsters under the hood these days.
I think I have heard they are using hamsters that are on steroids.
Just don’t buy into hybrid Camry.
They use the same hamsters, but make them to do more work for less food…
We had a 1978 Diesel Rabbit with a whopping 48hp that from the magazine tests i can find was just as slow as the 73 Corolla. We did have a 57 Chevy pull up next to us one Sunday morning at a stoplight. Mom told my brother not to even think of it, like we had a shot in hades anyway…
You know that school your dad went to, the one he had to walk to, up hill both ways? I built my house there, now I only drive downhill.
