Performance upgrades?

I own a ford escape s 2022 and i honestly dont know where to start. I want to have the performance, the style and the sound. if you had my car what would you do?

I would sell it and buy a Mustang

What trim level and is it a hybrid? I wouldn’t do anything until the warranty expires. Much of what you might do could void the warranty.

The performance of what? A circa 1989 Hyundai Excel? Congratulations you already exceed that that by wide margin.

The style of what a Lexus LC? Sorry can’t help you there. And what kind of sound are we talking about? A decent audio system? That can be arranged. Or a NASCAR-like exhaust note? That’s probably not happening.

Probably sell it. I already have a combination of vehicles that are significantly faster ( at least two of them anyway), arguably more stylish, and have a better exhaust note. For me an Escape wouldn’t offer any more capability than I already have. It’s not a bad car or anything, just one that doesn’t bring anything better to the table than I already have.

I’d leave the car alone and put the money away toward my next car purchase when the time comes.

Neither does anyone else . There are probably no one even making after market stuff for a Ford Escape .

I start shopping for explosives.

Use the above mentioned explosives.

Sorry for some reason I just have never liked the Escape.

you might try googling for a Ford Escape specific forum. Folks there may be able to help over a general car forum like this one.
they might be more willing, too. I’m with the others, if you want performance, an Escape isn’t the first thing that comes to mind.
or even the 100th thing that comes to mind…

Yep, hard to find parts for an Escape. For example, Borla lists a dozen different 2022 Fords for its exhaust systems, but not the Escape.

There aren’t many actual performance upgrades you’d want to put on a 2022, regardless of make and model. You’re still under warranty, so engine mods are out. You can make it louder with a cat-back exhaust or a ā€˜cold air intake’, but the hp increase will typically be next to zero. Bigger rims/shorter tires, sure, maybe improve the handling slightly, but at a cost of a rougher ride.

I’d realize that car is basic transportation only and i’d trade it in on something faster and more stylish.

This is how I see it when someone on the Mitsubishi Mirage forums asks about making their car faster and more sporty. What they don’t realize is this is meant to be a basic economy car and NOT meant for performance.

Yes, many performance upgrades on a car like this are likely to cause reliability issues and void the warranty as mentioned. I am not sure about the transmissions on these but the auto/CVT in the Mirage is one of the weak links if you didn’t opt for the manual so ANY extra power through it is risking transmission failure. I don’t know how much headroom there is an on Escape for extra power. Also, you could look into an aftermarket muffler to make the thing sound like a rice burner. Again, this isn’t worth it. Car prices are high so sell it for a good bit and get what you really want. It might not be as extreme of an example as the Mitsubishi Mirage but this isn’t a performance car.

Your start by going to the following sites and models:
Ford—Mustang
Chevy—Camaro
Stellantis—Challenger

Probably get best trade in allowance from the Ford dealership that sold you your Escape.

The non-hybrid Escapes these days use a conventional 8 speed automatic. Same transmission whether you get the 3 cylinder turbo or the 4 cylinder turbo. So there’s probably a bit of leeway on that front. I do agree that this isn’t the ideal vehicle manifest your inner Vin Diesel .

Buy a car that had options for performance upgrades. And you’re never going to get the sound of performance without having actual performance. Everything else is just noise.

Yup, not infrequent to be driving near a car with a ā€œtin canā€ muffler, I am gently accelerating, can hear their engine revving but yet they are falling behind.

Wait until the warranty expires, otherwise you may have no warranty (Car Talk logic).
