Does anyone else have a Civic that arms itself and then honks at you if you don’t get the key in the ignition within 20 seconds? Dealers don’t seem to know anything about it and it is making us very unpopular in the neighborhood! Help!
Is the alarm a factory or aftermarket system?
Some alarms have a passive arming option, which will arm the alarm a certain number of seconds after the last door closes.
Some dealer-installed aftermarket alarms are not integrated with the locks, so it’s quite possible to have the alarm go on with the car still unlocked (had a van like that once - annoying as hell, and all due to dealer laziness for not hooking up the lock output on the alarm).
