The following information is from the 2000 Ford Taurus service manual. I do not know if the 2002 would be different, but it should give you an idea that the front height is more, probably considering the front wheels turn and you would not want the tires hitting the fender well if you hit a bump during a tight turn.
The vehicle ride height can be checked by measuring the distance between the lip of the fender(s) and the ground. The vehicle must be in a level, static ground position with full fluids and the fuel tank at least half full.
Front Ride Height - 4-Door 713.3 mm ± 10 mm - (28.08 in ± 0.19 in) - Wagon 710.4 mm ± 10 mm - (27.96 in ± 0.19 in)
Rear Ride Height - 4-Door 696.3 mm ± 10 mm - (27.41 in ± 0.19 in) - Wagon 702.8 mm ± 10 mm - (27.66 in ± 0.19 in)
