01 Impala Stalls

My Impala seems to stall or the RPMs drop, if I’m braking while backing up, if I’m in park or neutral and turn the wheel quickly, if I’m in park or neutral and I try to close a power window that is all ready closed. It seems that when I’m at a low RPM and any extra load is put on the engine it struggles and dies.

This can be caused by a faulty Idle Air Control valve.

When in gear, IAC valve should bump the idle speed up for that load on the engine. When turning the steering wheel, the power steering pressure switch sends a signal to the computer to adjust the IAC valve to bump the idle up for that load on the engine. And when you operate the power window to go up that’s already up, the extra load on the charging system will send a signal to the computer to adjust the IAC valve to bump the idle up for that load on the engine.
