Will running a car without result in a engine cylinder failure

After the loopy story and the apparent refusal to answer a few basic questions, I’ve come to the foregone conclusion that the OP and the husband both have a bad habit.
Each has their own vehicle and neither one raises the hood, ever, to inspect anything and this bad habit has now surfaced.
The husband is the closest and easiest target to hit since he used the vehicle 3 months ago so fire away.

The OP states their dad taught them to overhaul a carburetor. Maybe, maybe not. Many people think a carb overhaul consists of a new needle/seat and a hosing down with aerosol carb cleaner so it looks good.
This also has nothing to do with any question of actually raising a hood to check anything and I have a certain amount of sympathy for the hubby.

The OP is just looking for affirmation to support her opinion that hubby did it and case closed.
