What have you done to stop consuming energy lately? Do you walk to work? Drive ultra efficient vehicles when you have to drive? Wear long underwear and coats so you don't have to heat your home so much?
You kind of remind me of the people who loudly decry those who go deer hunting, it's so cruel, and besides, you can buy meat at the grocery store
That is by far one of the dumbest arguments I’ve ever heard.
So what you’re saying is that energy companies should NEVER concern themselves about the citizens when producing energy…they should be able to product energy and make BILLIONS each year without regard to anyone’s life or well being…and we should just sit back and take it because they provide us energy to run our cars and lights in our homes. Heaven forbid they should spend just 10% of their profits applying safety standards that they were REQUIRED to implement but chose not to. Excellent Morality.
Mike, please get off your high horse. And please stop insulting my morals. I show how you’re 98% wrong (or 4200% you pick), and you come back with no admission of mistake. Are spills bad? Of course they are. Every industry that underpins our very economy exacts a price. 30,000 auto deaths a year? Terrible, but part of living. Air crashes? Terrible, but part of living. I’ve sat in the oil company meeting on safety and spill prevention. Nothing was MORE IMPORTANT. But do something thousands of time and somebody will screw up, guaranteed. Show me any complex dangerous business that’s 100% safe. Doesn’t exist.
You and B,I,L took that road…I’m just following it.
There’s a HUGE difference between ACCIDENTS and NEGLECT. Sure there are accidental oil spills…sure there are industrial accidents…but YOU AND B.I.L have taken the stand that the oil industry is almost perfect…and we should give them a pass on any of their obvious corporate greed decisions that have cost lives and done so much environmental damage we may never be able to clean it up.
I am trying to put the comments in this thread together. Are you all saying that an accident in a Nissan Leaf could cause an oil spill? Is that why, as used cars, that they are cheap?_(Maybe it is time to close this discussion).

Excuse me but I never said the oil and auto industry was perfect, nor did I ever state that they should be allowed to do whatever they want and be completely unregulated.
I would appreciate it if you quit putting words in our mouths and then insulting our morality based on those words.
Arguments based mostly on strawmen, insults, and ad hominem attacks makes your posts read like one of Ted Kaczynski’s twisted screeds and virtually guarantees that you end up preaching to the choir.
Mike, it’s possible to disagree with texases and BLE without attacking their character. I’m going to go ahead and close the discussion because there have been a few votes to do so.
