After “Katherin Froubuker Fenollosa” there is always a horse sound effect. Why is that ?
It is a reference to Frau Blucher, a character played by Cloris Leachmanin the movie, Young Frankenstein. Blucher is the German word for “glue” so the horse whinnys whenever her name is spoken.
Edit: Seems that blucher is not German for glue, it is a Prussian general’s surname.
Because my family (on both sides) was in the shoe business for ~200 years, the first thing that comes to mind when I hear “Blucher” is a type of shoe. But, that style of shoe was actually named for Field Marshall Blucher.
It seems that articles of clothing and shoes have a history of being named for military people. Besides those shoes, three that come to mind are the Cardigan, the Eisenhower jacket, and Raglan sleeves, but I think that there are likely other examples.
