Why drunk drivers survive the accident and the victim in the other car does not

This is crazy, now were condoning and supporting drunk driving! We have truly reached a new low!

Learn to read . Just because someone relates a story does not mean they condone driving under the influence .

Oh yes it does. Your comprehension of what he was getting at is flawed. Perhaps I hit a nerve or perhaps its just more of you attacking people on here.

Looking thru old posts you like to attack people and act hateful.

Really Rick?? So if I tell a story about a school shooting, does that mean I condone it, NO, it means I told a story about it
 :man_facepalming:

Sir you seriously need professional help

I hate drunk drivers, I have lost friends from driving drunk, matter a fact, a long time family friends husband that introduced me and my wife to each other was an alcoholic and it finally caught up with him and he hit a tree head on and was killed instantly

So to be clear, I DON NOT CONDONE DRIVING DRUNK!!!
Is their anypart of that , that you do not understand???

Bars on the barrier islands have bike racks since so many of their patrons have lost their licenses due to too many DUIs.

IIRC you live in Florida and drunk bicyclists can be cited for drunk driving. The states where you can be cited are listed in the link below.

That might explain some of the marauding bicyclists that I encounter on my walks/hikes. It would seem to be counterintuitive for people to be riding bikes–for their health–while drunk, but I also see people “walking for their health” while puffing on cigarettes.

Interesting article. I wonder if we Floridians will see more enforcement with the ever increasing number of electric bicycles.
But, getting LEOs to enforce the laws is another story.
Like people camping in the left lane.
“ Drivers must not continue to drive a vehicle in the far left lane when being overtaken by a faster moving vehicle, unless the driver is preparing for a left-hand turn at an intersection . Drivers failing to move from the far left lane will receive a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a moving violation”
LEOs just pass on the right, just like us non-LEOs.

Oddly, when I was on active duty, if you drank too much, you were not allowed to “sleep it off” in your car. During certain military functions, drinking almost required.

And they then take away a person’s vehicle driving license for riding a bicycle while drunk? I don’t blame anyone for driving a vehicle drunk in one of those states. Florida is a bit of a police state. It also has the nation’s deadliest highway.

Did you mean this? Crazy.

If they’re going to give someone a ticket for riding a bicycle which doesn’t put anyone in danger, and take away their driver’s license even though they did the right thing and were not weren’t driving, then I don’t care if people drive drunk. I won’t live in a place with such a stupid law or stupid people who support such a thing.

Once again I ask - what is wrong with you ?

Drunk riding does put people in danger. Read the attached link. Penalties are meted out only when the drunk rider causes enough negative attention to himself. Typical penalties are fines, then jail if serious enough. Repeated infractions might involve losing a driver’s license if it hasn’t been revoked already.

I imagine that there are a lot of Southern Baptists in Florida, but maybe not on the barrier islands. They wouldn’t own a bar anyway since many (most?) don’t drink.

I attended a friend’s wedding near Winston Salem about 50 years ago. At the time, Forsyth County was dry. The bride’s parents hosted a reception after the wedding in their back yard and there was no alcohol available. They made sure us Yankees knew that Uncle Buddy drank and had beer for all at his house, just behind the reception. Oh yeah, they were Southern Baptists.

Then I guess you’re not aware of that high profile case several years ago where a speeding and aggressive bicyclist ran over and caused the death of a senior

And taking a drunk cyclist’s driver’s license away does what exactly to stop them from continuing to ride a bicycle, which maybe you don’t know, does not require a driver’s license?

Well i’m drunk. Shall I drive my car home, or should I ride my bicycle? The penalty is the same, I will get a DUI if caught. What should I do? I’m less likely to get caught in the car. I think I’ll take that.

Annually, the number of pedestrians who die in The US as a result of being hit by a bicycle varies from 3-5, and there are usually more than 1,000 who are injured by bikes, so anyone who thinks that bicyclists can’t be deadly to pedestrians hasn’t been paying attention.

That’s your takeaway? Really?

So in a state where a robbery get away driver gets a murder charge for waiting out in the car during the robbery if the person who goes in to robs the store kills the clerk, you may as well just go in and do the robbery yourself then.

See how ridiculous you sound.
