When your parents are weed smoking hippies who don’t go to church and listen to acid rock, how do you rebel against them? By becoming the people that they rebelled against? Someone once told me, “I swore I wouldn’t raise my kids the way their grandparents raised me, and they ended up like their grandparents.”
I see Nervous Nellies that won’t make a right turn unless all lanes, in both directions, are clear as far as the eye can see.
Then we have the left lane drivers that remain there for miles then cut across lanes to make a right turn.
I’ve noticed a lot more folks running red lights right after they turn red.
Oh, it isn’t a death wish, they just feel entitled; they should not have to wait, can’t you tell they are “busy and important” people and they have places to go and things to do…
The only funny part of all of this is when they are at the Pearly Gates and St Peter tells them to get back in line and wait their turn… Of course, if it’s “Cerberus” greeting them at the gates instead of St Peter, they’ll probably get front of line privileges… L L . . .
Hee hee. In 1970 at my graduation from a Lutheran college, I was in line to buy refreshments for my folks. A guy maybe about 40, butted in front of me advising I had to be aggressive if I wanted to get anywhere. I’ve often thought that he and his kids are on the road with me. I just laughed at him and let him get ahead of me. He didn’t know he taught me a life lesson not to be like him.
She didn’t take 2 to 273?
That’s legal, and the correct speed if that’s her judgment.
Some other fora have found not-like buttons destructive.
I just ignore them.
You don’t have to be rude but if you disagree, you should post that and tell why.
Here in Virginia, the Law is: “No person shall drive a motor vehicle at such a slow speed as to impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic except when reduced speed is necessary for safe operation or in compliance with law.”
That means, driving 10-MPH under the speed limit could result in impeding the flow of traffic…
Her judgement would not be legal here. If her judgement tells her that the speed limit prohibits her from the “safe operation” of her car, then her judgement would get her ticketed for Driving Too Slowly and in Virginia that charge is punished with a fine up to $250 and she could be accessed Demerit Points and with enough points, she could lose her license…
We have had issues in the past when a “Band of Do-Gooders” decide that the cars on the interstate are speeding and they get together and create a “barrier of cars” across the entire highway driving at the posted speed limit and thereby blocking all traffic, even emergency vehicles…
Where would someone get on 2? The northbound major roads from Baltimore to NE Maryland are I-95, US-40 and US-1. 2 terminates in Glen Burnie going north.
I lived in California in the 80s, at that time CA had a law that on a two lane road, if five or more cars were behind you, you were required to pull off the road to let the other cars pass.
In Florida; going home from work, a four land road going from beachside to the mainline.
Car A was driving about five MPH below the speed limit in the right lane, car B pulls up next to A then proceeds to match speed. Traffics piles up behind car B, driver of A sees what is happening, car A pulls up gets in front of B in the left lane allowing the line of cars to pass on the right lane. Driver of car B not happy, but the rest of us gave a thumbs up to car A.
That was in the early 90s, now that would produce a road rage incident with gun fire.
Could be Anubis there to great them.
One of the principles of safe operation is one’s own judgment of one’s abilities. Maybe she gets a ticket but she probably wins in court. Some roads have minimum speed limits.
Delaware 2, in Wilmington or wherever she lives. It turns into Maryland 273.
Newark. I believe she used 2 and 273 to visit her daughter once she moved to Elkton and may have use them for the short trip to 95 or 40. 95 or 40 would be the long part of the trip to Baltimore.
I was behind one a couple years ago on a rural road during a small snow storm. I think we had a total of about 2". This person was driving below 20mph in a 50mph zone. I was 5 cars behind her when it started. By the time it was my turn to pass this jerk at a top of a hill (after about 40 minutes) - there were literally over a mile long of cars behind her.
I had a similar experience a few years ago.
It was a 2-lane road with a posted speed limit of 40, but many/most drivers exceed the limit by 5-7 mph when the weather is good.
The amount of snow on the ground was… maybe… one inch, and I was the 7th or 8th in line behind a woman who was driving at ~15 mph, but at each gentle curve in the road, she slammed on her brakes and slowed down to ~10 mph. Thankfully, I was able to make my turn toward home after just a couple of miles, but the line of cars that were forced to slog-along in back of that snail was at least 1/2 mile long by the time that I turned.
It was truly bizarre.
Doesn’t mean anything bu5 it was ten below here and got a couple inches of snow so the city. Streets were covered. Coming back from the hardware store I happened to get behind a Tesla. You can easily go the 30 mph with snow covered local streets and little traffic but the Tesla never broke 20 mph for the mile I was behind it before my turn off. I think it was one of only several in town. Don’t know if it was a low battery issue, handling, or driver concerns but it is rare anyone drives that slowly.
Years ago when Dodge ( Ram) starting calling their trucks “the intimidator” I knew American society was changing. Too many frustrated aggressive drivers on the road. No wonder we lead the world in the consumption of mood altering drugs.
That is a reference to Dale Ernhardt. The Ernhardt edition Monte Carlo SS is homage to his racing career.
Agreed…
Please explain this, prof, pictures something, I have never heard of a Dodge/Ram Intimidator vehicle of any kind…
I also tried to find but couldn’t. Unless I’m dreaming and I don’t think I am, I remember years ago when the first Dodge P. U. trucks started going for that huge front fascia ( reminiscent of the big rigs) they ran an ad calling it the Intimidator. It did look intimidating, compared to the relatively low grills of Chevy and Ford. I remember thinking at the time, I just want a work truck, I don’t need to intimidate others on the road.
P.S….memories are subject to errors so maybe it wasn’t Intimidator but something else to note aggression……???
